Erke Roosen started dancing since the age of 4 at a local ballet school in the Netherlands. At the age of 12, Erke moved to The Hague to study at the Royal Conservatory, dance department under the direction of Wim Broeckx. Where she performed works by Jiri Kylian, Lightfoot Leon and Regina van Berkel. After 7 years of training, she graduated with a Bachelor diploma and started an apprenticeship at Netherlands Dance Theater 2. Where she worked with Paul Lightfoot and Sol Leon and performed works of Ohad Naharin and Alexander Ekman nationally and internationally with the company.


In 2011, Erke decided to move to New York to study at Peridance Capezio Center in the Certificate Program under the direction of Igal Perry and Marlena Wolfe. She received three grants from foundations in the Netherlands to study in US.

In the 2 years of the program she has performed works of fellow students and of NY based choreographers such as Bryan Arias, Manuel Vignoulle, Robert Battle and Sidra Bell. In her second year at the program, she received a scholarship from Peridance and she was also one of the chosen students to apprentice for the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company. Erke graduated in June 2013 from the Certificate Program. 

 

Erke danced for the Peridance Contemporary Dance Company for 3 years, where she worked with Igal Perry, Sidra Bell, Dwight Rhoden, Bryan Arias, Robyn Mineko Williams, Manuel Vignoulle and Macia Del Prete. 

 

Erke has worked with several companies or projects such as: Gwen Rakotovao Company, iKADA Contemporary Dance Company, Da-On Dance Company, MTV international "Say it in Song", Of Bones|| Hollye Bynum Company.

 

Currently, Erke is part of: Depth Dance, Keiko Fujii Dance Company, Spaces of Fontana and Emotions Physical Theatre.  And working as a freelancer in New York City.

She is also teaching dance at an after school pre-K dance program in New York City. 

 

Alongside her main career in dance, she is pursuing a freelance career in modelling in NY. She has modelled for Make Up Forever Academy, clothing brand D. Webbdesigns and Instagram account Minniestyle owned by Disney.
